A Liberal Party that can’t win women can’t win Australia
We may not want to cry for Sussan Ley, or even for the Liberal party itself. But we should take pause, and maybe even pull out a tissue, for what it says about diversity of representation in our democracy.
No-one will be surprised by the result of the Liberal party room vote Friday: Sussan Ley was never the leader the conservative wing of the Liberal party wanted. And she had a rocky tenure during her short time as leader of the party.
Some of the blame for that can be laid at the feet of David Littleproud and the Nationals.
