AFL club Port Adelaide will embark on a $250 million property development after a secret buy-up of 26 residential houses surrounding its training oval and headquarters, with the deal partly backed by the league.
The club acquired the properties at Alberton, in Adelaide’s north-western suburbs, over the past three years, seeking to bolster its long-term finances using a development model similar to that of the LA Rams in the US National Football League with their home ground precinct in California.
