Amazon will spend more than $750 million building an e-commerce fulfilment centre in Queensland that will be largely operated by robots as the global retail giant seeks to automate more of its warehouses.
Amazon Australia’s director of operations, Wayne Angus, said the company had invested $25 billion in warehouse and data centres since it launched Amazon Web Services in Australia in 2011, followed by its retail operations six years later.
