Liberal donors deserve to know why their money was wasted
The party’s decision to block the release of its election review will disappoint many. They cannot learn from past mistakes if they do not know what they are.
For a party that had suffered its worst defeat, a tough and very frank assessment of what went wrong was the obvious first step. That was the task for Nick Minchin and me.
We both took the voluntary assignment on the basis that the review’s report, we were assured, would be public, as in past practice. That the report is not to be released at all is of deep regret.
