Aussies turn to VPNs as Pornhub cuts nudity to protest new laws

Australians remain locked out of the world’s most popular pornographic website Pornhub as it protests about new age verification laws that came into force on Monday, with App store data showing a surge in virtual private network downloads as locals try to trick their way back in.

The eSafety Commissioner’s Age-Restricted Material Codes came into force on Monday, meaning online platforms must verify the age of any user trying to access content that is inappropriate for children. This includes material that depicts high-impact violence, pornography, self-harm, suicide and disordered eating.
