BHP’s incoming chief executive, Brandon Craig, says the focus of the world’s biggest miner will shift towards the Americas under his leadership, and ruled out spinning off the group’s copper assets into a separate company.
Craig, 53, who was raised in South Africa, has worked at BHP for more than 2½ decades and will succeed Mike Henry on July 1. His appointment ended months of speculation about BHP’s succession planning and was welcomed by the mining company’s shareholders.
