Melbourne could face cuts to garbage collection services or have recycling bins emptied into landfill because of what industry leaders say is a double hit to costs from a new tax on top of spiking fuel prices.
Victoria’s peak industry group has pleaded with the City of Melbourne to scrap its $3750 tax on waste trucks in the CBD and warned the levy will exacerbate the impacts of the worsening fuel crisis on rubbish collection.
