Business playsuits turn out for the F1 Grand Prix

Banks CEOs, billionaires and dealmakers led the way in the backrooms of the F1 Grand Prix.

Oscar Piastri’s crash during the out lap of Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix, brought local misery exceedingly early. The most ashen-faced was his mother Nicole Piastri and her daughters, watching from the suite commandeered by grand prix chairman Martin Pakula atop the straight.

The rest in his inner sanctum washed away the pre-race disappointment with sushi and espresso martinis. CBA chief executive Matt Comyn is popular in this crowd (his trademark white shirt swapped for herringbone), as was investment banker John Wylie, who chatted on a table down from Foxtel’s CEO Patrick Delany. Comyn had just arrived back from the United States after jetting out following The Australian Financial Review’s business summit last week.
