Chalmers’ new tax on pension fund investment giants worries Canada

Canadian Finance Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne says a higher tax the Albanese government proposes on foreign funds investing in Australia is a concern he will raise with Treasurer Jim Chalmers in a bid to remove barriers between the two countries.

Chalmers has proposed expanding the 30 per cent capital gains tax on foreigners investing in assets that have a connection to Australian land, including renewable energy and other infrastructure.
