Gloria Jean’s owner has an angry shareholder on its case

Rob Rutter has been a minor shareholder of Retail Food Group, the Queensland-based company behind fading franchisee brands Gloria Jean’s, Donut King and Brumby’s Bakery, for about 18 months. Unsatisfied with his experience, he’s left the equivalent of a scathing Google review at the board’s feet – which it wholeheartedly rejects.

In a tirade against the board and management of the now $65 million market cap company, obtained by Street Talk, Rutter, a former chief operating officer at food service contractor Cater Care who holds around 1.5 per cent of shares, called for “urgent” strategic reforms to “halt the destruction of shareholder wealth”, the resignation of the management team and increased stock holding by the board.
