Don’t sell ‘iconic’ Defence land: Howard

Former prime minister John Howard has joined growing opposition to the Albanese government’s planned sale of historic military bases, declaring that iconic sites such as Victoria Barracks should stay in public hands.

Defence Minister Richard Marles announced last month that the government would sell 67 military sites, following the release of an independent audit that found they had little strategic value.
