Whether folly or far-sighted, Atlassian’s decision five years ago to build a 40-storey headquarters in the heart of Sydney is being tested by an artificial intelligence revolution wreaking havoc on the software sector.
The Nasdaq-listed software firm has taken a lease over almost the entirety of the $1.45 billion tower’s office space, grouped into habitats of four levels each. A hostel takes up five floors at the bottom. But in the midst of a round of job cuts, Atlassian is looking to sub-lease more than a third of its space.
