Former Downer execs raise millions for robots that repair trains

A group of five former executives from engineering giant Downer EDI have raised $8 million from big institutional investors including Queensland Investment Corporation to develop robots that can repair trains and inspect infrastructure.

The first external funding round for five-year-old Brisbane-based Future Maintenance Technologies values the company at about $40 million according to sources with knowledge of the deal, who were not authorised to speak publicly.
