Automotive dealers and car manufacturers are readying themselves for a surge in electric vehicle sales as fears of fuel price spikes and shortages and the prospect of changes to government subsidies push more Australians to switch from petrol cars.
Battery electric vehicles hit a record 11.8 per cent share of new car sales in February, before the US-led attacks on Iran began in early March, driven in part by speculation the government could cut back its lucrative EV tax break in the May budget.
