Gambling billionaire steps down after being arrested on family violence, drug offences

Billionaire Laurence Escalante has temporarily stepped down as chief executive of his gaming empire VGW after being charged with family violence and drug offences over an alleged assault.

The 44-year-old is accused of unlawfully entering the home of a 24-year-old woman about 8.45pm on Monday before allegedly assaulting her, stealing several items and causing damage to the property.
