Iranian war is becoming Trump’s global economic crisis

Australia is being increasingly drawn into the Middle East conflict as its fuel supplies become ever more vulnerable.

Contradictory messages coming out of the White House, often in the same Donald Trump breath, are nothing new. What is new is the extent and speed of the economic impact around the world.

Trump’s announcement of his “liberation day” tariffs a year ago certainly shocked global markets. Yet the immediate trauma dissipated relatively quickly as Trump pulled back from his most extreme actions, if not his rhetoric.
