In turning a blind eye to CFMEU misdeeds, the premier failed to uphold proper ministerial and governance standards.
It is untenable for Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan to maintain the suggestion that she was unaware of the scale of CFMEU criminality and corruption until the problems were exposed by the Building Bad investigation in July 2024.
Allan was infrastructure minister for much of the time the militant construction union ran amok on Victorian building sites, which suggests she was either asleep at the wheel – if she was truly unaware of the extent of the misconduct – or she is downplaying her awareness at the time.
