Japan seeks more Australian LNG as war rattles global energy supplies

Tokyo | Japan has asked Australia, its biggest supplier of liquefied natural gas, to increase output as the Middle East conflict disrupts energy markets, a shock that could prompt Tokyo to redirect the LNG it usually on-sells across Asia back into the domestic market.

The request illustrates the growing anxiety in Asia’s largest energy-importing economies about the threat to fuel supplies from the Gulf and surging energy prices.
