Liquidator McGrathNicol has axed 238 job at the Tahmoor Coal mine south of Sydney after control of the operation was removed from British businessman Sanjeev Gupta amid a mountain of unpaid debts.
McGrathNicol announced the redundancies on Thursday after being appointed as liquidator last week following a NSW Supreme Court ruling. About 90 workers will stay on to look after care and maintenance at the mine.
