Melbourne homes rate long-term for investors, just not right now

The potential for capital growth in Victoria’s housing market makes it one of the better long-term bets in the country despite the state’s high-taxing regime, which has already spurred some property investors to quit the market, analysts say.

The weight of those property taxes, the highest in the nation, combined with a sluggish Victorian economy still struggling to recover momentum after the long lockdowns of the pandemic era have depressed price growth in the state.
