The Albanese government has resolved to be more upfront with voters about measures it is taking to deal with the global fuel crisis, following internal criticism it was failing to effectively communicate and was losing the political battle during a time of national uncertainty.
While Prime Minister Anthony Albanese listed a raft of actions the government had already taken, and confirmed national cabinet would meet on Monday to sign off on measures aimed at fuel conservation, he rejected opposition demands to invoke emergency powers to help resolve problems with distribution afflicting regional areas.
