NRF tips $20m into Michelle Simmons’ Silicon Quantum Computing

The federal government’s manufacturing investment fund has invested $20 million in Silicon Quantum Computing, a start-up led by former Australian of the Year Michelle Simmons that is racing to build a commercial-scale quantum computer.

The investment from the $15 billion National Reconstruction Fund, which is part of a wider capital raising campaign, will be used to expand SQC’s chip manufacturing operations and lure new private investors to back the Sydney-based company.
