London | Prince Charles has jetted into Barbados to help celebrate the Caribbean country’s transition from monarchy to republic, ushering in a president elected using the model rejected by Australia in the 1999 referendum.
The heir to the throne will on Monday (Tuesday AEDT) tell Barbadians that “myriad connections” remain between Britain and its former colony, even as the country of 288,000 people formally ditches his mother, the Queen, as its head of state.
