RBA’s Bullock warns of Iran risk as inflation tops nation’s worries

Reserve Bank of Australia governor Michele Bullock says the conflict in the Middle East could lead to higher interest rates, with oil prices soaring as the central bank prepares to seriously consider a rise as early as this month.

Describing a monetary policy board meeting on March 16 and 17 as “live”, Bullock said that while it was “quite easy to look through a supply shock” like an oil price jump, persistent inflation would make that more difficult.
