Major construction suppliers, including the country’s biggest plumbing goods business, are raising prices by up to a third as the war in Iran crunches the shipment of raw materials and puts pressure on building costs.
Reece, which supplies bathroom materials to home builders and tradespeople, told customers it would be forced to pass on cost rises of 36 per cent on plastic pipes from next month because shipments of oil and resin needed for manufacturing had been disrupted.
