Retail investors join whales to wipe 11 months of bitcoin gains

An exodus of money from exchange-traded funds has accelerated a month-long slump in bitcoin, with the world’s most popular cryptocurrency erasing all its gains this year and leaving investors nervous about bigger falls.

The outflow of retail funds has come at the same time as so-called crypto whales have been reducing their holdings, sending bitcoin below $US93,714 over the weekend. The token edged higher to around $US95,000 on Monday.
