Washington | Mining magnate Gina Rinehart and technology investor Steve Baxter are supporting the next generation of Australian conservative activists as they scour the United States for fresh political tactics to snap a losing streak at home and capitalise on rising interest in far-right politics.
The wealthy business leaders have been in Dallas, Texas, this week, where the annual Conservative Political Action Conference is underway, along with a handful of other influential right-wing Australian players, including Pauline Hanson’s chief of staff James Ashby, unsuccessful Liberal candidate Warren Mundine and climate change denier Ian Plimer.
