Rubbish trucks stand in Stockland’s way to smaller housing lots

Development giant Stockland faces an unusual obstacle to smaller lot sizes in Sydney – council rubbish trucks too big to service smaller land parcels.

Stockland would love to get its average lot size in greater Sydney of 450 square metres down to its national-average 330 square metres or even to Melbourne’s average 290 square metres, but faced fierce resistance from local councils, chief executive Tarun Gupta said.
