Sacked for Israeli flag: How Sydney Uni handled pro-Palestine encampment

Sydney University sacked a contractor for flying Israeli and Australian flags from the quadrangle at the height of its university encampment, one of several instances in which it sought to protect pro-Palestine protesters as it grappled with the campus standoff.

A cache of emails reveals how the university struggled to balance free speech and student safety amid incidents prompted both by pro-Palestine protests and counter-protesters labelled “Israeli agitators”.
