The Sydney-based pubs and pokies billionaire Sam Arnaout has fought off a legal challenge that sought to halve the number of gaming machines at two of his Alice Springs hotels.

Indigenous leaders and local health authorities claimed the majority of punters at the two venues, owned by Arnaout’s Iris Capital, were vulnerable Indigenous gamblers and the extra machines Iris had installed in the pubs were causing unnecessary harm to the community.
