Spirit, salmon, Sandy Bay, stadium: Tasmania’s woes worsen

Locals only need one letter of the alphabet to remember the rumbling problems in the state.

Tasmanians currently have a neat way to remember the problems facing their indebted state. It’s the Four S’s: stadium, Spirit, Sandy Bay and salmon.

On the fish front, it’s the ongoing concerns about salmon farming practices, and disease blighting the industry. Then for Sandy Bay, a bougie suburb in inner Hobart, it’s the standard NIMBY versus YIMBY fight. Slow and steady shitstorms.
