Taxpayers paid $907m for NSW projects that went nowhere

Taxpayers in NSW forked out $907 million in the last three years for capital works and studies that did not deliver any usable infrastructure because the related projects were cancelled after federal and state Labor government reviews.

The write-offs to the state budget were revealed in a NSW Audit Office report which shows costs grew from just $25 million in 2022-23 to $436 million in 2023-24 and $445 million in 2024-25.
