The 2025 federal election was widely considered the worst campaign the Liberal Party has ever fought, according to a scathing review of the historic defeat, which also found former leader Peter Dutton was disliked by women and likened to President Donald Trump.
The Liberal Party federal executive last week decided not to publicly release the report authored by former Liberal MPs Nick Minchin and Pru Goward, but a copy obtained by The Australian Financial Review revealed the litany of errors that led to the party’s worst ever election result that left it with just 28 seats in the 150-seat House of Representatives.
