The Australian Club sweats another election

The 148-year-old gentleman’s club keeps finding itself embroiled in nomination spats.

Melbourne’s The Australian Club hadn’t had a contested election in its 148-year history. Then two came along in two years. What luck.

The first in 2024 saw former Tupperware boss Charles Henry elected as club president, replacing Melbourne Airport chairman Peter Hay. The second recently exploded in a three-way race for two positions on the club’s committee as vice presidents.
