Jamie Selzler dreaded exercise for as long as he could remember.

Throughout his 20s and 30s, as his weight crept up, he would force himself to go to the gym. But as he cycled and lifted, he couldn’t escape the mental image of The Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels yelling at him to push harder, to lose more. He would often reward himself for persevering by following his workouts with a big meal, usually fast food.
