This summer Ley won’t be on holidays, she’ll be fighting for her job

A lot is starting to go wrong for the government, but it is being masked by the Coalition’s own struggles.

One of Bill Shorten’s more awkward moments as Labor leader came 10 years ago next month when he sought to engage a shopper in a conversation about a lettuce.

“What is your favourite type of lettuce?” he asked a bemused woman while staring with feigned interest at the contents of her shopping cart.
