Asylum calls for Iranian football team branded ‘wartime traitors’

Iranians are urging the Australian government to grant immediate asylum to the Iranian women’s football team who face harsh punishment when they return home for refusing to sing the country’s national anthem on Monday night.
Iran’s state TV network accused the team of betraying the besieged nation by failing to sing the national anthem ahead of their Women’s Asian Cup opener.
