Trump-style data centre plan won’t work in Australia: Scroggie

NextDC chief executive Craig Scroggie says US President Donald Trump’s proposal to make data centres build their own power plants is not a practical option in Australia, but rejected claims the sector’s rapid growth will derail the clean energy transition.

A coalition of unions, renewables developers and environmental groups on Wednesday said a failure to plan for the economic and social impacts of the data centre rollout, including its effect on the green transition, would create a backlash against the sector.
