Unleash challenge to big three telcos, OECD tells Australia

Australians would pay lower prices for mobile phone services if the government encouraged competition by setting aside radio waves for a fourth telco operator, says the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

The nation’s three mobile services providers – Telstra, Optus and TPG Telecom – are gearing up for a battle this year over spectrum, the electromagnetic frequencies that transmit mobile phone calls and are awarded to mobile operators.
