Transurban chairman Craig Drummond is expected to be elected unopposed to replace Richard Goyder as the new chairman of the AFL on Wednesday, and to move to repair a rift between the league and its clubs after a tumultuous period for the game’s leadership.
The meeting of club presidents comes a day before the start of the 2026 AFL season, with Opening Round games featuring home matches for all four NSW and Queensland clubs, and seven rule changes designed to reduce match length.
