- The Reserve Bank of Australia has raised interest rates for the second time in a row in a split decision that increased rates by 0.25 percentage points to 4.1 per cent.
- Treasurer Jim Chalmers says the government does not expect Australia to fall into a recession but RBA governor Michele Bullock has warned of recession risks if inflation cannot be tamed.
- Chalmers also ruled out petrol rationing and said the government was not considering any change to the fuel excise as Donald Trump’s war on Iran sends fuel prices soaring at the bowser.
- Israel says it has killed two top Iranian officials – national security chief Ali Larijani and Gholamreza Soleimani, the head of the Basij Resistance Force.
- NSW Premier Chris Minns confirmed that hundreds of thousands of public servants may miss out on cost-of-living protection payments until mid-2027.
