V’landys eyes $1b NRL revenue as broadcast talks loom

The National Rugby League is edging closer to the $1 billion revenue mark, with a major uptick in income from sponsorship, ticket sales and government income driving the sport to a $64.8 million profit.

Australian Rugby League Commission chairman Peter V’landys and chief executive Andrew Abdo are preparing to enter talks with television networks and streaming services about a broadcast deal which is critical to the sport’s financial future.
