Victoria sets August date for revived offshore wind auction

The Victorian government will kick off a competitive auction process in August for the underwriting of two gigawatts of offshore wind capacity, showing its determination to press ahead with the development of a sector facing multiple headwinds across the globe.

The critical inaugural auction process was delayed last year amid concerns among aspiring offshore wind ventures in Gippsland – the country’s lead region for implementing the costly technology – about government funding support.
