London | With friends like Donald Trump, who needs enemies? Britain’s embattled Prime Minister Keir Starmer has found out that no matter how much you stroke the Trumpian ego, he is liable to bite you anyway.

Trump’s dismissal of Starmer’s belated consideration to send an aircraft carrier to the Middle East is the equivalent of a condescending pat on the head delivered with a hint of menace.
