Woodside faces slower green ammonia start-up as customer demand lags

Woodside Energy has flagged a delay in starting low-carbon ammonia production at its $3.35 billion Beaumont project in Texas, but acting chief executive Liz Westcott says customer demand for the green version of the fuel is also lagging expectations.

The delay until after 2026 was because of the slower development of third-party equipment and services that would enable the Beaumont plant to switch from producing traditional “grey” ammonia to the low-carbon version, Westcott said.
